It likely dates to the late 19th or early 20th century and represents the recognizable sword type associated with Sudan and the broader Saharan region. The included scabbard does not appear to be original to this sword, but is a highly decorative Kaskara-style sheath, likely Sudanese or Saharan, constructed with tooled leather, suspension straps, raised carrying elements, and a dramatic flared lower section typical of regional Kaskara scabbard forms.
