This lot features an original German WWII Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger Paratrooper Badge, awarded to personnel who successfully completed the Luftwaffe’s parachute training and qualification program instituted in November 1936. The badge displays a naturally developed patina and retains strong definition throughout the wreath and central eagle. The classic design consists of a half oak leaf and half laurel leaf wreath surrounding a dramatic diving eagle clutching a swastika at center. The brass eagle is securely affixed to the wreath with two intact rivets, and the reverse retains its original vertical needle pinback with barrel hinge and bent metal pin catch. This example is maker marked “G.H. OSANG DRESDEN”, identifying manufacture by G. H. Osang of Dresden, a recognized and documented period producer.

Fallschirmjäger badges served as visible symbols of airborne qualification and were worn on the left breast pocket by members of Germany’s elite paratrooper forces. These units played a significant role in early-war operations, including airborne assaults and rapid-deployment engagements, making original qualification badges an important component of Luftwaffe and airborne collections.

Condition is consistent with age and period use, exhibiting honest surface wear that enhances the badge’s character while preserving strong visual appeal and detail. An excellent opportunity to acquire an authentic Fallschirmjäger qualification badge with clear maker marking and intact hardware, well suited for collectors of WWII German awards and Luftwaffe insignia.
