This exceptional German WWII Schutzpolizei (Protection Police) Long Dress “Walking Out” Bayonet by Clemen & Jung of Solingen is offered here in mint condition and retains its complete original configuration. The bayonet features a beautifully preserved stag-horn grip with an aluminum police insignia firmly attached to the grip, secured between an oak-leaf decorated upswept crossguard and a finely detailed stylized eagle's head pommel. The single-edged blade with fuller bears spine markings including a "B" with starburst, along with "A" and "9", and is unit marked "S. Br I 1648", likely denoting issue to the Schutzpolizei, Breslau, First Precinct. Notably, the marking on the blade corresponds with the marking found on the interior backside of the scabbard, a highly desirable matching characteristic that further supports period authenticity and confirms the originality of the set as carried during the World War II era. The original leather washer remains present.
The bayonet is accompanied by its original black leather scabbard with nickel-plated brass mounts showing only minimal finish loss, as well as the correct black leather frog with aluminum rivets in excellent condition. Also included is a German Police troddel knot portapee with silver and pink braiding, denoting Panzer affiliation, paired with traditional silver and green police acorn colors. The overall presentation reflects early-war production quality, and the complete matching configuration elevates this piece well above average examples encountered on the market. Long dress bayonets such as this were privately purchased and worn by Schutzpolizei personnel for parade and walking-out dress, symbolizing rank, pride, and official standing rather than battlefield use.
Complete, unit-marked Schutzpolizei dress bayonets of this caliber, especially examples with corresponding blade and scabbard markings, are increasingly difficult to source. The combination of maker, unit designation, matching components, condition, and full accoutrements makes this a highly researchable and visually commanding display piece. A premium early-war German police edged weapon that will strongly appeal to advanced collectors of Third Reich police militaria and serious edged-weapon enthusiasts alike.
