This original 1946 edition of Hitleriada Furiosa represents the first in StanisÅ‚aw Toegel's two-volume satirical masterwork targeting Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime. Created shortly after WWII while living in the British-controlled Displaced Persons (DP) camp in Osnabrück, Germany, this volume was published by Antoni Markiewicz in Celle, alongside its darker companion, Hitleriada Macabra.

Toegel, a Polish artist from pre-war Lemberg, endured forced labor under Nazi rule following his capture after the 1944 Warsaw Uprising. During his imprisonment in Gumligen, he secretly drafted anti-Nazi caricatures, acts of silent rebellion that culminated in these post-liberation publications. The Hitleriada works, created just months after Germany's surrender, stand today as some of the earliest visual satirical condemnations of the Third Reich to emerge from Central European survivors. Furiosa is the more dynamic and chaotic of the pair, using wild, expressionistic linework to lampoon Nazi ideology. It targets not only Hitler but the cult of personality, propaganda absurdity, and militarized bureaucracy that fueled the regime's machinery.

In Toegel's warped illustrations, uniforms melt into monstrous forms, and symbols of power unravel into farce. These portfolios are incredibly scarce and were distributed in limited numbers to fellow refugees and displaced artists. Today, Hitleriada Furiosa remains a remarkable relic of intellectual resistance, giving postwar trauma a sharp, visual voice before the world had words to define the Holocaust.
