This outstanding German World War II Model 1933 SS Dienstdolch Officer Dress Dagger is a true textbook example marked SS 807/36 RZM, indicating production under the authority of the Reichszeugmeisterei by RZM contractor 807 in 1936. The SS 807/36 RZM maker remains unidentified to date, adding further collector interest and research appeal. Most importantly, this exact dagger is published on pages 202 and 203 of Ralf Siegert's The Service Daggers of the SS, placing it among a very small class of reference-book examples known to advanced collectors. The blade is exceptional, with a dark, crisp, and beautifully executed acid-etched Meine Ehre Heißt Treue motto, along with the matching SS 807/36 RZM contract code and date marking. The blade retains gorgeous crossgrain running the full length, a perfect point, tight fit, minor age spotting, and typical runner marks, rating near mint overall.
The black enamel-painted sheet metal scabbard remains dent-free and retains the majority of its original finish, showing only moderate nicks and handling wear consistent with age. The nickel-silver scabbard fittings are in fine condition, and all four scabbard screws remain intact. The scabbard-to-hilt fit is perfect, giving the dagger the precise and proper fit collectors want to see. The solid nickel-silver crossguards are in very fine condition with excellent crossguard-to-grip fit. The black-dyed hardwood grip shows typical bumps and bruises from age and handling, along with one small chip, but remains highly attractive and structurally sound. The nickel-silver grip eagle retains beautiful detail and sits with a perfect fit, while the SS roundel retains approximately 96 percent or better of its enamel and is also perfectly seated.
The Model 1933 SS service dagger is among the most studied and significant edged weapons of the Third Reich period, and published examples hold special importance within advanced collections. This dagger's textbook status, unknown RZM contract maker, near-mint blade, excellent fittings, dent-free scabbard, intact screws, strong scabbard finish, perfect hilt fit, beautiful eagle, strong SS roundel, and direct publication in a major reference work make it a premier SS edged weapon acquisition of exceptional collector importance.
