This German WWII Army Heer officer dress dagger is a scarce maker example by Richard Abr. Herder of Solingen, complete with officer portepee and scabbard. The dagger is described as near mint, retaining approximately 95 percent of its original condition. The survival of the portepee and scabbard gives the piece a complete and highly desirable officer presentation, while the Herder maker mark adds significant collector interest due to the relative scarcity of this manufacturer compared with more commonly encountered Solingen firms.

The Heer officer dagger was introduced as a formal dress sidearm for German Army officers and quickly became one of the most recognizable edged weapons of the Third Reich period. These daggers were privately purchased and worn for formal military occasions, parade dress, and ceremonial use. Collectors place strong value on maker attribution, blade condition, scabbard preservation, grip quality, and original portepee presence, all of which contribute to the desirability of a complete officer dagger ensemble.

This example has the important qualities advanced dagger collectors look for: a scarce Solingen maker, near mint preservation, original scabbard, and officer portepee. Its approximately 95 percent condition gives it strong display presence and makes it a standout Heer dagger for collectors seeking a clean, high-grade example from a less common manufacturer.
