This 1715 German 24 Mariengroschen, certified Mint State 62 by NGC, is a beautifully preserved relic of early 18th-century German coinage. With sharp details and a distinguished pedigree from the Wolf-Metternich Collection, this coin is a rare and historically significant piece. In fact, it's the finest known of only four certified examples of this beloved design for a world silver coin.

Obverse Design: The coin features the iconic "Wildman" design, depicting a muscular, bearded figure holding a large, uprooted tree in his right hand. The denomination "24" is positioned at the lower right, while the surrounding inscription reads "IN RLCTO DECVS", emphasizing the coin’s connection to the principality of Brunswick-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover.

Reverse Design: The reverse has a central inscription reading "XXIIII MARIEN GROSCH FEIN.SILBER HXH", which translates to "24 Mariengroschen of Fine Silver" along with the issuing authority's initials. Surrounding this, a circular legend details additional minting information, likely referencing the Brunswick-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover region and its ruling authority at the time.

Historical Context & Rarity: Struck during the reign of George I, who had recently become King of Great Britain in 1714 while maintaining his rule over Hanover, this coin is a testament to the interconnected European economies of the time. German silver coins from this era are particularly scarce in high grades, and few examples survive in such well-preserved condition.

Collectibility & Investment Appeal: In Mint State 62, this coin exhibits sharp detail and impressive luster, a remarkable find for collectors of German state coinage. Its provenance from the Wolf-Metternich Collection adds further historical prestige, making it an exceptional addition to any advanced numismatic collection.
